A note on method
AI-detection software has been called unreliable by the Authors Guild and by every seasoned operator we trust. The thresholds swing with the next model release, false-positive innocent writers, and — ironically — pass confidently rewritten AI prose. Relying on it to certify authorship is a category error.
Folkmark takes a different route. You submit a piece of work and the evidence that it came out of your own working life: version history, draft timestamps, screenshots from your studio. A human reviewer reads your piece and your evidence against a short, published checklist. What survives isn't a probability — it's a judgement, signed and accountable.
The process
A human-and-paperwork approach by design. Slower than a detector. That is the point.
A piece, plus the receipts — draft log, file history, photos of your desk or screen. The form is short; the work is yours.
A real person at Folkmark spends around twenty minutes with your submission. Voice, structure, and the evidence together — not a detector score.
A short, public checklist: are the drafts comparable in time and tooling? does the version history tell a consistent story? are the screenshots contemporaneous?
On approval, a tamper-evident badge, a hash anchor, and a permanent registry line — readable by any buyer, marketplace, or platform that wants to verify.
The public registry
The registry is the part a community can actually use. Buyers can check a piece from a listing. A platform can confirm before distribution. You can point a skeptical reader at a row in a public table.

Questions, briefly
Because detectors measure surface style, not authorship. The Authors Guild and most working editors have publicly called them unreliable. We sign what we verify with our own judgement, not a probability that flips with the next model.
Most single-piece reviews close within five working days. Studio subscribers move to the front of the queue. We never auto-reject — every submission gets read.
We retain the metadata needed to anchor the seal for as long as the registry exists. Personal files stay private and are deleted on request; only the registry row, seal number, and date are public.
It is not a marketplace, a guarantee of quality, or a licence to claim anything beyond authorship. The seal says: a human at Folkmark reviewed this work and its trajectory and believed it came from you.
